See my blog entry, May 9, 2010 for a summary of the issue.
Just watched "The Social Network." Can't believe anyone could accept the dumbed-down, women as sexual objects, degrading portrayal in that movie. This is 2011 and half the movie was women bumping on dance floors, it was bizarre. Total fantasy, but really captures the problem.
There is a tendency in human nature to destroy what one is threatened by. This is how Rama-Dr. Frederick Lenz explained the negative response of men to the power of women. Men, fearing the power of women, not realizing they have that same FEMALE power in themselves, have tried to destroy the power of women in every possible way. Today the battleground in the USA has shifted a bit. Women are free to demonstrate their sexual power more than, let's say 100 years ago. Great, women do have more sexual power than men, as has been proved in numerous research studies. Women are multi-orgasmic, men single -- enough said. But sexual power is tricky for women.
Back to the basic truth, what Rama said. Humans tend to destroy what they are threatened by. Men fear the sexual power of women, which is so much greater than their own. So if a woman is writhing around on a platform in a party scene (see the movie, it's really exploitive), using her wide energy body to project sexuality and "wrap" the less sexual men around her to become interested in sex, she is pulling in not only their sexual interest, such as it is, but their anger. Ever since childhood, these men have had their love and humility repressed, and they know something is up with women. They feel the power but it doesn't jibe with the master of the house mentality. So they get pissed. And they project that anger at the young woman in the thong on the dance platform and her subtle body -- that wide, fluid, light, bouncy energy body that is described in the May 9 entry, gets pierced, emptied of its energy.
So it's not good for women to go out of their way to be sexy and draw male appreciation, because what they are really getting is anger.
If you meditate, you can start to see these things. If you meditate, your subtle body will start to come back and eventually gain its full luminosity. And along the way you need to build your power level and stay far away from people who would portray you in a less powerful light or encourage you to become engaged in an energy-draining situation.
Deep breath!
One of the ways to build up your power is to journey, ideally alone, to a pristine place of power, a place in nature where you feel stillness. Usually not a lot of people go there, but enough people are around that you you feel safe when you are there. Often, if you live in a city, you will have to drive an hour or more to get to a beautiful place. You will clear out, the thoughts and feelings of other people that you picked up because of your vast but sensitive subtle physical will leave you.
Ladies, of course you have great sexual power but it 's only one aspect of your great power and is the trickiest to use. Instead, get smarter and richer. Meditate deeply. Now, there's power!
